STARKE COUNTY, Ind. —Anna Beem, a long-time Starke County resident, is searching for answers as to why her 911 call went unanswered in January.
Beem was calling while performing CPR on her husband, Homer, who was having a medical emergency, and died on January 28th.
Beem says her calls to 911 didn’t connect and she was given a busy signal. She claims she called five times and never got through.
Only when she reached out to the front desk of a local hospital did her calls go through.
While Beem was concerned that the issue had to do with the dispatch center, the Starke County Sheriff’s office released a statement Wednesday saying: “An internal investigation confirmed that the issue was not related to the Starke County 911 system."
The sheriff's office also offered their condolences to Beem and her family.
County Commissioners and the sheriff’s office believe that the connection issue was related to a service outage through internet and phone provider Brightspeed.
