BCHD community baby shower supporting new, expecting families
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- While summer break is on the horizon, Meteorologist Maci Tetrick had time for a visit to Holy Family School in South Bend.
She stopped by Ms. Hoffman's first grade classroom to talk about Project Tornado. Specifically, she focused on wind.
"Wind is tough," she explained. "You can't actually see it."
The class brainstormed some of the things that wind can impact in storms.
To demonstrate how faster wind can be more destructive, Tetrick helped the class build paper cup anemometers.
Each group of students held their anemometers up to a small fan at different speeds to see if it spun faster or slower.
This spring semester, Tetrick has spoken to over 700 Michiana students about sustainability and science topics.
