SBPD officer arrested on charge of domestic battery
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- UPDATE: According to the official probable cause affidavit, on Nov. 17, officers responded to a residence on S. Holiday Street in South Bend.
Court documents state a witness told the officers he was there with a woman, Victim 1, and her boyfriend, David Finn.
The witness stated that they were all out at a local bar, and there was a lot of drinking, and he witnessed Finn and Victim 1 pushing and shoving each other.
The witness told the police Finn then left.
The witness said he and Victim 1 went to another bar for a while, then got a ride share home. The witness said he then texted Finn to let him know that Victim 1 was home safe.
Documents state Finn then arrived at the residence within minutes, and witness told police that's when he had seen Finn push Victim 1 to the ground.
Finn was also found guilty of animal cruelty on Nov. 14, stemming from an incident on Oct. 8 where two witnesses told police they saw Finn kick a dog and throw it out of his truck.
Court documents state this incident occurred while Finn was picking up his daughter from the mother's home at the pre-arranged time.
Documents state Finn arrived and "snatched" his daughter from the home with no shoes or coat and the mother's dog followed Finn to the truck.
Witness told police the child was screaming and crying and when the dog got near Finn's leg, he kicked it.
The dog then got into the truck when documents state he threw it out of the truck.
