SBCSC board approves interim superintendent’s contract
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Community School Corporation (SBCSC) made a unanimous vote 7-0 Wed. evening to approve acting Superintendent Mansour Eid.
The vote established an annual base salary of $186,000. Eid will be paid a prorated salary set at a 37.5% rate for the balance of the 2024 school year, which ends on June 30.
When the school year ends, if the board has not chosen a permanent superintendent, Eid’s contract will automatically renew as superintendent for the 2025/26 school year.
Eid will also receive benefits like an annual car allowance.
That means the total monetary value of all compensation and benefits for the partial year of 2024 is $96,983.69, while the full year amount for the 2025-26 school year is $258,623.16.
Some community members felt that salary was a little steep, while others pointed out it’s similar to the contact of the former superintendent, Dr. Todd Cummings, who Eid replaced in Feb, both getting the same base salary of $186,000.
Eid said his time with SBCSC over the past handful of months has been challenging, but he said he started his career in South Bend and hopes to finish it in South Bend.
“I feel good about this… I feel I’m making progress. We are feeling the positivity, we are making change… we’re visiting schools, we are, you know, moving forward,” said Eid.
