Rollover crash sends four minors to hospital, driver to jail

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A woman was arrested after a single-vehicle rollover crash in South Bend sent her and her four minor passengers to the hospital Wednesday.

The driver, 33-year-old Lainey Brooks, was arrested on preliminary charges associated with Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated, though Brooks is awaiting formal charges from the Prosecutor's Office.

Around 6:37 p.m. Wednesday evening, the South Bend Police Department responded to the area of Bendix Drive and Voorde Drive for a single-vehicle rollover crash.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle rolled over next to the railroad tracks off the east side of the road.

Brooks and four juvenile passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment before Brooks was detained.

Brooks is being held at St. Joseph County Jail, awaiting formal charges.
