MGN WASHINGTON, DC -- A federal bill introduced by a Michigan congressman would change the rules on how the US handles some convicted terrorists.
Rep. Bill Huizenga (R-MI) introduced the Deport the Terrorists Act. The bill would automatically revoke the citizenship of naturalized US citizens convicted of a terrorism-related offense. The congressman says that under current law, naturalized citizens of any kind cannot be removed without first going through the denaturalization process.
Rep. Huizenga says his bill would make deporting naturalized convicted terrorists easier and quicker. The bill would also direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to make these deportations a priority.
