Recently reopened business suffers fire following remodel

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. -- South Haven Area Emergency Services announced crews responded to the North Side Memories convenience store at 112 Dyckman Ave. Saturday around 8:30 p.m. for reported smoke.
The store owner told crews she saw smoke coming from a rear storage room as she prepared to close for the evening.
Firefighters arrived to find the business filled with smoke.
The report states the fire was found in the rear room and quickly controlled before it could spread to the nearby Outpost Sports business and an unoccupied upstairs apartment.
Mutual aid from Bangor, Columbia, Covert and Hartford fire departments also responded to the scene.
Fire officials said North Side Memories had just reopened Friday after being closed during the winter months for a remodel.
The store owner announced via Facebook, "As of now, our store is open, but we will not be serving any food or ice cream — the deli is closed until further notice. We’re heartbroken, but we’re staying strong and taking things one day at a time."
