ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – A long-time reading program will be held virtually this year in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
A partnership between United Way of Elkhart and LaGrange Counties is launching a new virtual reading program called, “Read Mentors Read”.
The program allows both students and volunteers to read from the comfort of their own homes.
“Read Mentors Read” caters to students in kindergarten through second grade at Elkhart and Goshen Community Schools.
One story will be read per week for a total of four weeks.
The program, typically held in the spring, will begin virtually in November and will last through December.
The readings will be offered in both English and Spanish.
