Reactions to deadly double shooting in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - An active manhunt is still underway for the suspect in a deadly double shooting at a South Bend hotel.
ABC57 first took you to the breaking news scene Thursday night during our 90 minutes of news.
Now, more than 24 hours later, police are still looking for whoever pulled the trigger.
A local business owner who wishes to remain anonymous for her safety tells me she heard the gunshots Thursday afternoon.
Now more than a day later, there are still lingering concerns since the shooter still hasn't been caught.
“I locked my doors but when it comes really down to it that’s a second time I heard gun shots, um I'm here 9 to 5 every day, I don’t think it’s a bad area, I think it's unfortunate what had happened,” said the anonymous business owner.
Police say two men identified as 20-year-old Amarion Kirk, and 22-year-old Jasani Taylor, were found dead outside a car in the parking lot of the Quality Inn near South Bend International Airport.
Witnesses tell investigators they saw a suspect running away from the scene after bullets started flying.
“I heard the shots, turned around looked at my employee says well, we both ran outside and within 20 seconds 15 seconds saw a lot of police in the area and they just kept coming and coming, I wasn’t scared, I think I was more scared that they were running around the neighborhood trying to find the person,” said the anonymous business owner.
