COLOMA, Mich. -- Today, July 31, it was announced that the plans for "The Norma Jean Somers Splash Pad" at Randall Park in Coloma Michigan has been fully financed and is set to begin the building process.
"So, we're so excited to announce that the Norma Jean Somers splashpad is fully funded. We've reached our initial fundraising goal. We're still continuing fundraising for ongoing maintenance. But this is a huge celebration today really big for the community," stated Laura Somer-Ginter, the daughter of Norma Jean Somers.
The fundraising for the splash pad began in the summer of 2023, with the naming of the pad beginning three months ago. The splash is estimated to be 55ft by 36ft.
Somer-Ginter continues, "We're going to hopefully break ground soon. I don't have a firm date for you. But now that we've announced our initial fundraising goal met, it should be any day now."
