Palisades to restart with $1.5B federal loan
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Senate Bill 1, a proposed abortion ban, has been signed into law by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.
The bill bans all abortions except in cases of rape or incest before 10 weeks, if the life of the mother is in danger, or if there are fatal fetal anomalies.
The Indiana Senate has passed the bill, after the House approved it on Friday afternoon.
Some, like the pro-life group Voices for Life, think that the abortion ban is not strict enough, stating: "We are disappointed that the bill fails to protect all preborn Hoosiers from the violence of abortion."
Others like Rep. Maureen Bauer, were moved to tears when discussing the proposed ban's possible effects.
"To demand equal rights under the law," she said. "To have the same control over their body that is guaranteed to any man in Indiana."
Governor Eric Holcomb officially signed the bill into law on Friday night.
