Potawatomi Zoo opening for the season with new additions, baby animals
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Potawatomi Zoo will open for the season on March 29.
Zoo hours will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from March 29 until Dec.1.
Admission to the zoo is $10 for adults and $8 for children aged three to 14 and seniors over the age of 62. Admission is free for children under 2-years-old and Potawatomi Zoological Society members.
The zoo is excited to introduce its newest member, a southern white rhino, as well as the addition of several new species and baby animals including grey kangaroos, a painted dog, a Chacoan peccary, female red fox, ring-tailed lemurs and more.
Director of Animal Programs and Education, Josh Sisk said, “It’s so important to keep bringing new animals to the zoo. Not only does it help preserve rare and endangered species but having anaimals that people are excited to see helps us spread our conservation message even further.”
The zoo will provide a weekly schedule on its website listing regular keeper experiences so eventgoers can find a date to interact with animal ambassadors and learn about different species.
EdZoocation is also happening with new dates and events planned. Registration is ongoing for upcoming spring and summer classes as well as summer camps.
Zoo Snooze Sleepovers and Evening Safari registration is open as well for families. Zoo Snooze Sleepovers allow children over five and caregivers to camp out in the zoo overnight.
New Roars & Pours dates have been added following its success last year with an adult-only event on Sept.21.
Family Nights will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on April 26, May 11, June 13, July 11, Aug. 23 and Oct. 3.
