SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Potawatomi Zoo announced Wednesday that the fennec fox kits born Friday, Sept. 26, have been named.

The two female foxes were named Lucy and Jewel, whereas the sole male fox was named Sonny.

All three fennec foxes were named by J.R. Fox Jewelers, with Lucy and Sonny being named after the jeweler's founders' parents, and Jewel being named in tribute to the business itself.

“We’re so pleased to partner with J.R. Fox Jewelers on the care of these fox kits,” says Josh Sisk, executive director of the Potawatomi Zoo. “They’ve been such great supporters of the fennec foxes for several years, and we’re thrilled that they’ve had the opportunity to name our first kits in recent memory.”
