UPDATE: The City of South Bend reports the sinkhole repair is complete and Main Street is expected to reopen northbound and southbound lanes Thursday evening.

The intersection of Main and Garst streets is expected to fully reopen by the end of the day Friday.

ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department says there may be a small sinkhole around S. Main Street and Garst Street. The department advises the public to avoid the area while repairs continue.

During the repairs, Garst Street will be closed between Michigan Street and Lafayette Boulevard. As well, the northbound lane between Sample Street and Stull Street.
