Police chase California man from Michigan to Indiana after alleged firearm larceny

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – A California man was arrested on Saturday after allegedly leading police on a chase from Michigan to Indiana, the Sturgis Department of Public Safety announced.

At 8:15 a.m., police were called to the area of Chicago Road and Franks Avenue for a report of a firearm larceny.

As officers responded, they were told by dispatch that the suspect had fired shots, according to reports.

Officers located the suspect vehicle but the vehicle left the scene.

The suspect was chased into Indiana, where the suspect abandoned the car and allegedly ran away, reports said.

A Michigan State Police K-9 was called in and within an hour of the original call, the suspect, a 37-year-old man was taken into custody.

The suspect was lodged on an outstanding warrant at the LaGrange County Jail.

The Sturgis Department of Public Safety is seeking additional charges related to this incident.
