SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Pokagon Band Citizens and Four Winds Casino team members handed out over 200 Christmas food boxes at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Each box contained all the items you would find at a typical Christmas dinner.
Cars were lined up in the morning as early as 6 a.m.
Boxes were limited to one or two per car.
Volunteers loaded all the boxes into the vehicles, so drives didn't have to get out.
Scott Brewer, VP of Government Affairs at Four Winds Casino, stated, "So in total, we have several locations that we're giving food away from. Today, we're doing over 1000 boxes, which equates to 5000 meals. Each box contains a Christmas ham and the fixings that go along with that, and the there's a sweet bread or a pumpkin bread that's within that. But again, each one of these boxes feeds a family of five."
