Plymouth Schools announce addition of second school resource officer
PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- Plymouth Community School Corporation announced the appointment of Officer Steve DeLee as the second school resource officer (SRO) for the district.
School officials say DeLee brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to serving the Plymouth community, making him an excellent addition.
DeLee graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1998 before he spent three and a half years with the Roseland Police Department. He then joined the Plymouth Police Department in 2000, where he's served for over two decades.
DeLee is also a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and completed the Indiana School Resource Officer Association Basic School Resource Officer Certification.
DeLee stated, "I'm excited to work directly with the students and contribute to a safer environment where they can thrive academically. As a full-time SRO, I look forward to having more opportunities to support our school community during daily activities."
DeLee will also co-teach the Criminal Justice North Central CTE class alongside fellow SRO Bridget Hite at the Lincoln Education Center.
DeLee, originally of South Bend, has been a resident of Plymouth for the past 22 years.
PCSC officials say of DeLee, "His extensive experience, coupled with his dedication to our community's safety and well-being, makes him an invaluable asset to Plymouth Community School Corporation."
