GALIEN, Mich. -- As drought around the country sparks concerns about lower supply and higher prices this season, one local Christmas staple said their crops are doing just fine.
Pinecrest Christmas Tree farm in Galien, Michigan has been growing trees for more than 50 years in Michiana, while resembling a real-life Santa’s Workshop or Hallmark Movie Set.
The farm has sprouted up well beyond its humble roots since 1974.
Adding a shop, acres of land, and varieties of trees,
"And 1974 was our first year and all it was my mom in a snowmobile suit a carpenter apron with a measuring pole and my dad with our old International tractor and a hay wagon to take people out of the field at that point I think they sold 50 trees their first year,” said Kris Goodenough who grew up on the farm.
This year they expect to cut down 4,000 trees, some used for garland and wreaths.
