Pickup truck collides with box truck, leaving multiple people injured
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, Ind. -- At approximately 5:39 p.m. the Indiana State Police responded to a crash at the intersection of US 30 and North CR 350 West between a pickup truck and a box truck.
The initial investigation shows that 44-year-old Jorge Moyotl of Warsaw was traveling northbound on CR 350 West in a Chevrolet Silverado, when he crossed the eastbound lanes of US 30 but failed to yield to westbound traffic, causing his vehicle to be in the path of a yellow 2011 GMC box truck driven by 23-year-old Usiel Martinez of Bremen.
Martinez and his passenger were transported to Kosciusko General Hospital, for non-life-threatening injuries.
Moyotl and one of his passengers were flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with serious injuries, with another adult passenger and four juvenile passengers were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
While drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor, the lack of seatbelt use is believed to be a factor in the number of injuries due to the Chevrolet having to many occupants.
