BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – Some Benton Harbor kids are helping themselves out with the crowds coming to the PGA this weekend.
Half of the money from program sales is going to the First Tee Program at Harbor Shores.
First Tee is a branch of the Boys and Girls Club of Benton Harbor. Children learn to play golf on the course and are taught skills like judgment, honesty and respect.
“Through the game of golf we instill those core values,” said Ryan Burns with First Tee. “So (if they’re not getting a hit) they’ve got to persevere until they get a good shot.”
First tee is for area students ages 6-17.
Programs cost five dollars at the tournament.
