Penn-Harris-Madison trustee Matt Chaffee reads personal statement at board meeting

NOW: Penn-Harris-Madison trustee Matt Chaffee reads personal statement at board meeting

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- At Monday evening’s Penn-Harris-Madison (PHM) School Corporation board of trustees regular meeting, trustee Matt Chaffee read a prepared statement.

His statement stems from a situation that took place last May, when the board unanimously called for Chaffee to resign from his position due to allegations of sexual misconduct stemming from a local blog post.

As Chaffee was reading his statement, the board attorney asked him to save it for the end due to the statement’s personal nature, but Chaffee continued.

“No, I am going to finish my thoughts because it relates to what this board did in a special meeting on May 14th, 2024, where they called on my resignation, so I’m going to continue with my statement,” said Chaffee.

Matt Chaffee’s full statement:

“The Disciplinary Complaint filed by the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission against Michael Misch outlines only a fraction of the collusion and unethical behavior committed by Misch and others. As detailed in the complaint, Misch and Cichowicz had a very intimate personal and professional relationship.

Misch advised Cichowicz on countless matters. Judge Cichowicz signed the retaliatory order in the custody case of my son Lucas causing him, my family and me irreparable damage. I am sure I speak for countless other individuals who refused to fall in line with a Misch or Cichowicz directive. Connect the dots and do the math because this is only a fraction of what’s to come.

Again, thank you to those who have supported me through what has proven to be the most difficult and challenging time in my life. God will prevail”.
