BENTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- At 9:03 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to the report of shots-fired in the area of Norton Avenue and East Napier Avenue, according to the Benton Township Police Department.
Upon Arrival, police discovered a white Jeep on the side of the road, with a 30-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman laying on the ground outside of the vehicle.
While the man was unharmed, police say that the woman suffered a single gun shot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Witnesses say that just prior to the shooting, there had been an argument within the vehicle.
Based on evidence gathered at the scene, the male was taken into custody, and is currently being held at the Berrien County Jail on several felony charges, including a charge of Open Murder.
