One sent to hospital in Cass County crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a crash on M 62 and Brownsville Street on Saturday just before 12:30 p.m.

A small bus being driven by 65-year-old Mohdjamal Al-Khalil of South Bend failed to yield the right of way to another vehicle, driven by 64-year-old Thomas Poling of Dowagiac.

Poling was driving north on M 62 when Al-Khalil tried to cross the intersection from Hospital Street to Brownsville Street, causing a collision.

Poling was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Al-Khalil had no injuries.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
