UPDATE: Man shot outside bar following argument passes away Monday, police investigating

UPDATE TWO: MCPD reported around 2:30 p.m. Monday that 25-year-old Dante Sellers has passed away from his injuries.

UPDATE: The Michigan City Police Department reports La Porte County Dispatch received several reports of gunshots outside of Matey's Bar along with physical fights.

Several units arrived and were assisted by the La Porte County Sheriff's Office, Long Beach Police Department, and Trail Creek Police Department.

Responding officers arrived to find 25-year-old Dante Sellers suffering from a gunshot wound at a parking lot entrance across the street from the bar.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures before he was taken to Franciscan Hospital for medical treatment. He was later taken to the University of Chicago Hospital for advanced care.

Authorities' initial investigation determined Sellers had become involved in an argument while at the bar.

As Sellers was walking to his vehicle parked across the street, gunshots rang out and he was shot.

The MCPD Investigative Division then took over the investigation, which is ongoing.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Police say while specific details of this case can’t be released, to protect the integrity of the investigation, it's noted this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence.

ORIGINAL STORY: MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Michigan City Police confirm that officers responded to a shooting Sunday around 2:30 a.m. at 110 Franklin Street. 

Officials say one person was shot in the chest and taken to a local hospital.

The Michigan City Detective Bureau took over the scene and the incident is currently under investigation. 

Police add that there's no known threat to the public at this time.
