One dead and six injured following early morning two-vehicle crash
MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Office reports a call came in on Friday, Dec. 20, around 7:50 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash at U.S. 30 and Cedar Road, just east of Bourbon.
First responders arrived at the scene to find six people injured and one person dead.
The report states 46-year-old Randy Ousley, of Bourbon, had been partially ejected from his 2013 GMC pickup truck when it rolled during the crash. Despite receiving aid, Ousley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other vehicle involved, a 2013 Jeep Wrangler, was driven by 33-year-old Mackendy Fontaine, of Columbus, Ohio.
Fontaine and the Jeep's passengers, a 31-year-old and 4-year-old also from Columbus, were all taken to Memorial Hospital with various non-life-threatening injuries.
Ousley's passengers, a 15-year-old, 11-year-old, and 4-year-old, were also taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities' initial investigation determined that Fontaine was traveling west on U.S. 30, when they apparently lost control and struck Ousley.
Deputies say Ousley was slowed or stopped at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Cedar Road at the time.
Authorities say falling and blowing snow contributed to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation and a report will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor's Office when the investigation is completed.
