NWS confirms EF1 tornado in Starke and Marshall Counties
STARKE COUNTY, Ind. -- The National Weather service confirmed an EF1 tornado with an estimated peak wind speed of 110 miles per hour began in Starke County and ended in Marshall County.
NWS officials say the tornado began around 4:22 p.m. Monday at 2 N. Oak Grove 2 miles southwest of Ancilla College and ended at 1 Southeast Donaldson around 4:28 p.m.
No fatalities have been reported, but one person was injured according to officials.
Officials say the Ancilla College campus and Gilbert Lake area sustained extensive tree and minor structural due to the tornado.
A mobile home was overturned, several homes sustained minor siding and roof damage, and two barns just northeast of Ancilla College were flattened with two others south of 10B Road destroyed.
Officials say Kosciusko County sustained a microburst, with sporadic tree and barn building damage noted along a line from two miles southwest of Clunette to Milford.
The surveyed damage was consistent with up to an estimated 75 miles per hour winds according to the NWS.
