NWS confirms EF-1 tornado hit Marshall County Wednesday night

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- Bourbon was one of the spots hit worst when a now confirmed EF-1 tornado tore through Marshall County Wednesday night.
Sirens were wailing, wind was whipping, and Marshall County residents were taking shelter last night around 7:52 p.m. when the storm started to pick up.
NWS officials say a survey of damage revealed a tornado touched down southeast of Rutland on S.R. 10 around 7:52 p.m. and quickly went northeast.
The tornado spanned about 175 yards and travelled for nearly 18 miles.
Officials say the tornado moved over empty fields, impacted several wooded areas, and snapped or uprooted trees on private property.
NWS stated the tornado entered Bourbon and reached peak intensity on the northeast side of town around Crocus Court and Rose Lane where homes suffered extensive roof damage.
The EF-1 tornado had a peak wind speed of 105 miles per hour and ended around 8:10 p.m. just north of Etna Green in Kosciusko County.
