A quick punch of snow and cold
Notre Dame's Men's basketball team will need to get past NC State without their top scorer. Forward Bonzie Colson, leading the way.
Colson fractured his left foot in practice this week and is expected to miss 8 weeks. He is scheduled for surgery on Thursday.
It will be a huge loss to the Irish.
Colson is a senior All-American and was the preseason ACC Player of the Year.
Just last week, Head Coach Mike Brey called him one of the greatest stories in college basketball.
"He's just respected by everyone in college basketball. Being on the road this summer this past July he's the favorite player of other head coaches. 'How big is he? What position does he play?' and he's added something new every year. He wants to win so bad that he will carry his team at times to do that and he's done that numerous times here at Notre Dame," Brey said.
Colson had been putting up career high numbers this season averaging 21.3 points and 9.8 rebounds. He also led the Fighting Irish in blocks and steals.
In a statement Tuesday night, Coach Brey said the team needs, "to embrace this challenge. This program has lost key guys before and we figured out a way to earn an NCAA bid."
