Notre Dame men fall to Purdue Fort Wayne after cold shooting, late miss
SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame men’s basketball delivered a sloppy performance Sunday and lost to Purdue Fort Wayne 72-69 at Purcell Pavilion.
The Irish struggled from deep, shooting 14.3 percent from 3-point range, and they allowed Fort Wayne to score 15 points off turnovers. At halftime, Notre Dame trailed 27-24 and only led for about two minutes, 30 seconds all game. The Irish had a chance late — down one with 3.3 seconds left — but could not finish the final play.
Jalen Haralson led the team with a season-high 21 points, along with nine rebounds and four assists. It was his third 20-plus point game this season, but he also racked up six costly turnovers. Braeden Shrewsberry added 13 points while Haralson and Carson Towt helped on the glass as Notre Dame won the rebounding battle 43-28. Both teams shot nearly the same percentage from the floor, but Notre Dame’s mistakes and missed 3s were the difference.
Up next, the Irish will travel to California for its next two games, facing Stanford first and then Cal.
