SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The Notre Dame hockey team spent some time at Howard Park on Tuesday night.
Filled with hot chocolate and commemorative autographed posters, the “Skate with the Irish” event allowed players and community members to meet each other and skate together.
It was a special night for sophomore forward and South Bend native Graham Slaggert.
“I know for me I looked up for the players and maybe it’s a little different for me because I grew up around it, but I still see a bunch of kids coming around, asking questions and wanting autographs,” Slaggert said. “It’s just really cool to see the joy that we can bring to them.”
The Irish donned special jerseys for the upcoming “Irish Wear Green” game on February 15. The game will raise awareness for the 525 Foundation, a local organization that raises awareness about the dangers of alcohol and prescription drug misuse and abuse.
