SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame's first year head football coach Marcus Freeman now boasts the second-best recruiting class for the class of 2023.
In Freeman's first season as head coach, he has already posted a higher recruiting ranking than former head coach Brian Kelly ever did during his 12-year tenure with the Irish.
Freeman's presence and attitude have changed the culture around Notre Dame football and is the primary factor in convincing star high school athletes to make South Bend their new home.
"The biggest thing is that Coach Freeman has embraced the things that make Notre Dame unique, and he sells them as strengths of the program," said Bryan Driskell of the Irish Breakdown. "Whereas before, they were always used as excuses or stumbling blocks or roadblocks."
Four and five star recruits are now choosing to play under Freeman at Notre Dame rather than at other top college football schools like Alabama, Texas, and LSU.
