Notre Dame earns trip to semi-finals in the ACC tournament with 77-68 win over Louisville

GREENSBORO, NC – Irish are 2-1 against Louisville this season. The latest coming in the ACC tournament.

Notre Dame is going back to the semifinals for the third year in a row, after beating their rival.


The Cardinals vs. Irish series was tied 2-2 in the conference tournament before Friday's game.

Led by Sonia Citron with 26 points and Hannah Hidalgo scoring 21 points, the Irish opened the game with a good start, leading 34-17 at halftime. 

At one point early in the third quarter, Notre Dame led by 22 points. But Louisville, eventually went on their run, led by Jayda Curry.

Curry scored 23 second half points, shot 7-11, and brought the Cardinals within 4 points, trailing 70-66 with 43 seconds left in the game.

The Irish closed the game with clutch free throws from Sonia Citron, after Louisville Head Coach Jeff Walz earned his second technical of the game, resulting in being ejected.

A 77-68 win puts Notre Dame in position for a rematch against Virginia Tech in the semifinals. The Hokies are the 2023 ACC Champions but fell to the Irish 71-58 on February 29 in South Bend.

Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. Eastern.
