SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- After being named an Associated Press First-Team All-American earlier this week, decorated Notre Dame defensive back Xavier Watts was voted a Consensus All-American on Thursday.

While the All-American team is made up of the players who receive the most votes as the best players in the country at their positions, Consensus All Americans must receive votes by at least half of the recognized voters.

In 2023, Watts won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy as the nation's top college football defensive player

Surprisingly, the man who will be remembered as one of the most decorated Notre Dame defensive players of all time was originally recruited to the school as a 4-star wide receiver from Omaha, Neb. in 2020.
