Notre Dame awarded $195,000 to fund heart disease research

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The American Heart Association has awarded nearly $2 million to universities in Indiana to fund research.
The University of Notre Dame was given $195,000 to fund new studies on heart disease and stroke.
Past research funded by the association lead to a number of break-throughs including the first artificial heart valve.
The association has also funded the research of 11 Nobel Prize winners.
