Miracle Field reaches Phase One fundraising goal in Mishawaka

Normain Heights Park Campaign Committee

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Parks and Recreation foundation has reached an important milestone as of April 22, which happens to be National Baseball Day.

The Miracle Field at Normain Heights Park Campaign Committee has reached its Phase One fundraising goal. They raised more than $1.6 million to build Northern Indiana's first Miracle Field.

This will allow those with disabilities to play organized sports such as baseball. The census date estimates there are more than 80,000 people with disabilities in the north central region.

Miracle Field is a part of Mishawaka's renovation project for Normain Heights Park. The committee is now focused on raising additional funds to enhance the park to include a playground, covered pavilions, walking trail, basketball courts, a splash pad, and other park projects.

"We are overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of our donors. As we get set to start on Miracle Field, we want to continue to challenge ourselves. If we can raise additional funds for the fully inclusive playground and splash pad, we will be able to provide one of the most fully inclusive play spaces in northern Indiana, " said Phil Blasko Superintendent of Mishawaka Parks and Recreation.
