SOUTH BEND, Ind -- A local non-profit organization joined the siblings of a fallen veteran to surprise his mother almost one month later.
Zachary Holden passed July 28 in Athens Tennessee, while riding his motorcycle to work.
The veteran is a South Bend native who attended South Bend Clay High School. He served six years in the U.S. Army after graduation.
"He was a good kid and I’ll miss him forever," said Holden's mother Darleen Holden.
The organization Get Wet for a Vet honors and assists veterans who need them and they honored the Holden family.
"Unfortunately, we lost a veteran to a motorcycle accident. His mother lives here in the South Bend area so we thought to honor his death and show a tribute to him takes a little bit of the pain off of her," said Get Wet for a Vet President Jim Metherd.
Despite the disbelief and the pain family and friends are experiencing, they all continue to reminisce their son, brother, and friend.
"I will miss Zach every second of every day. He was an amazing man. He was a bright person and he looked for to everything he was doing in his life," said Holden's father Alan Holden.
