Nine people arrested after police find drugs, cash in residence
ELKHART, Ind. -- Nine people were taken into custody after police were called to a residence about a fight. Inside the home officers located drugs and a large amount of cash, according to Elkhart Police.
Early Sunday morning, Elkhart Police were dispatched to 922 S. Third St. for reports of a fight at the address.
When officers arrived on scene they located several subjects inside the residence.
Inside the home officers located approximately 2 grams of synthetic drugs, 2.3 grams of heroin, trace amounts of cocaine, and .5 grams of marijuana and a large amount of cash, according to police.
One of the subjects resisted officers while he was being handcuffed. He also swallowed an unknown substance in a baggy and was transported to Elkhart General Hospital.
The officer suffered a minor injury when the subject resisted but the injury did not require medical attention.

- Douglas Burch, 43, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
- Michael Gates, 39, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
- Clinton Hawkins, 41, Elkhart, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
- Latavia Hillard, 39, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance, and possession of marijuana.
- Marcus Johnson Sr, 59, was arrested for maintaining a common nuisance.
- Genessa Jones, 46, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
- Shinena Moutria, 30, was arrested for visiting a common nuisance.
The suspect who was transported to the hospital faces charges of maintaining a common nuisance, resisting law enforcement, battery on an officer, dealing in a narcotic drug, and dealing in schedule I drug.
