NILES, Mich. - 19-year-old Lawrence Edward Slaughter II pled guilty to possessing a loaded firearm which had been modified to a fully automatic weapon with a conversion device, as a convicted felon.
Federal prosecutors say the weapon had an illegal "switch" on it making it fire automatically.
Slaughter was busted in late 2022 when probation officers came to his house in Niles for a compliance check and found the gun hidden in a bedroom.
Officers say what they found was a loaded 9mm Glock pistol with machine gun modification.
Slaughter is scheduled for sentencing July 16 before Chief U.S. District Judge Hala Y. Jarbou. He faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
