Niles man injured in Miami County crash

MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. - A Niles man was injured in a crash on U.S. 31 Monday afternoon, Indiana State Police announced.

At 3:09 p.m., officers with Indiana State Police, the Peru Police Department, and the Miami County Sheriff's Department responded to a crash on U.S. 31 at Business 31.

According to the investigation, a 2015 Dodge Durango was traveling west on Business 31, trying to turn south onto U.S. 31, when a Niles man driving north on a 1985 Honda CB650 motorcycle allegedly did not stop for the red light and hit the Durango on the passenger side.

The Niles man was ejected from the motorcycle.

He was flown to the hospital and at last check, has many broken bones but is stable.

The driver of the Durango was not injured.

The use of alcohol or narcotics are not considered factors in the crash.

This is an ongoing investigation.
