Niles man found guilty in Easter morning shooting

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A Niles man, Marcus Hatcher, was found guilty on Friday for the shooting death of 26-year-old Eddie Tyler on April 9, 2023. 

Hatcher was charged with reckless homicide and firearm enhancement, according to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office.

The two men were involved in an argument in a parking lot in the 200 block of S. Main St. when Hatcher began shooting at Tyler's vehicle. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. 

The 28-year-old could be sentenced from five to 20 years for firearm enhancement and an additional one to six years for reckless homicide. 

His sentencing is scheduled for December 18, 2023, at 10 a.m.
