NILES, Mich. -- Downtown Niles celebrated the grand opening of the NODE on Saturday. The grand opening featured a day of live music, games, and other events on 2nd St. in Niles.
The first band kicked off at 1 p.m. featuring local talent from Niles youth before leading up to music sets from Shreddy Tendergrass, Marc Sucks, Hey Annie, and the headlining acts of Abbie Thomas and the Crazy Hearts that night.
"You know, it was a temporary thing, originally, just to try to help, help the businesses survive during that hard time. And but again, once, we got started, we really knew that we sensed it, that people really loved it. And so, we had to convince the city and the rest of the citizens that this was a good idea," said Justin Flagel, Chair of Niles Main Street.
