UPDATE: St. Joseph County releases name of motorcycle driver killed on Sunday

UPDATE: Police say at around 2:46 p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to the scene where they found that the driver of the motorcycle, 23-year-old Nicholas Shawn Kenneth Benson, of South Bend, was deceased.

According to police, initial reports indicate that a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Cynthia Ann Duran, of Elkhart, was trying to make "a northbound turn onto Ironwood Road from Southern View Drive when she turned into the path of the motorcycle driven by Benson."

Duran and her passenger, 27-year-old Ryan Duran, both suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital and released.

Authorities say Duran cooperated with authorities and the preliminary investigation did not show signs of impairment.

The crash remains under investigation by the St. Joseph County FACT.

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - The South Bend Police report that St. Joseph County FACT has been requested to investigate a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at South Ironwood Drive and Southern View, Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say as of 3 p.m. Sunday, traffic is restricted on Ironwood Drive between Inwood and Ireland Roads as officers investigate.

Motorists are asked to please avoid the area.

No information has been released about injuries or how many people were involved.

Police say all further details will be released by FACT.
