SOUTH BEND, Ind.—A new gourmet salad shop has opened in South Bend.

Tossed ToGo opened for the first time on Monday at 2022 S Bend Ave. in the building that used to house Breadsmith.

“We saw the 'for rent' sign, we looked at the space on Friday, September 18. We came up with the concept on Saturday night while we were watching TV,” one of Tossed ToGo's owners, Carrie, said.

By that next week, Carrie and her husband, Tossed ToGo’s chef, Michael, were approved for their loan and celebrated opening day eight weeks later.

The pair has always wanted to open up their own place and the chef brings along with him 25 years of executive chef experience.

Menu items at Tossed ToGo include gourmet salads, baked goods and bottled beverages. Family-sized salads are also available.

The salad line-up includes specialty-crafted house salads, a Caesar, a Southwest Chopped, California Cobb and more.

Baked goods on the menu include everything from cookies and brownies to zucchini bread and zebra popcorn.

The shop also features a kid’s menu with chicken bites, mac n’cheese and salads for kids.

The salad shop has an online ordering option that allows customers to pick up their orders or have them delivered. Customers can also place orders in-person at the shop.

Tossed ToGo is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s closed on Sundays.
