NEW CARLISLE, Ind. — New Prairie Little League is set to kick off their season Saturday with a big-time celebration.
The festivities kick off at 9 a.m. with a parade, quickly followed by a ceremonial first pitch at 9:30.
Board members for the little league say each year’s opening day looks different, but a big uptick in volunteers has allowed for opening day 2024 to be an extra special event.
The first pitch of the season will be thrown out by Ava Geyer, starting pitcher for the 2023 New Prairie state championship winning softball team.
After a flag raising by members of the U.S. Marine Corp, Miss Indiana, Hannah Stambaugh, will help kick off the season by singing the national anthem.
Games officially start up at 11 a.m. with more than 300 kids stepping up to the plate to participate.
A bounce-house, spirit-ware booth, food trucks and concession stands will all be available for families looking to enjoy opening day.
