New details on St.Joseph County's leaf pick-up program

ST.JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- St. Joseph County officials are working to better streamline the county's leaf pick up program.

County officials are working to better streamline the process.

The five-year contract with county contractor Greenworld is up in the spring.

The Board of Commissioners is looking to hire smaller companies to take on the job.

At a meeting tonight the board broke down criteria for the new team it selects.

“There's a certain degree of accountability that people need to have and our firms need to have, they need to have a certain level of technology but we don't want to make it so onerous that smaller entities won't want to participate so it's kind of a fine balance for us,” says Andy Kostielney District 1 Commissioner.

Many homeowners complained about leaves not being picked up before the snow arrived last fall.
