ND men's basketball team bounces back on the road
The Notre Dame men’s basketball team is coming off a two-game road trip that was played in less than 48 hours.
A loss to the Virginia Tech Hokies ended the Fighting Irish’s 6-game winning streak, but head coach Mike Brey says Monday’s victory over Howard gives them a chance to get back on a winning streak.
“We lost to Indiana on a Saturday, like we lost to Virginia Tech,” head coach Mike Brey said. “We played quick against Western Michigan and Howard. We’ve got a chance to start a streak again. Let’s start a streak again. Let’s start a streak. We did some tough stuff when we had to.”
Brey and the Fighting Irish bounced back in a hostile environment against the Howard Bison and while the Irish continue their road trip as they travel to Louisville on Saturday.
Brey gives credit to Blake Wesley for his maturity throughout his freshman season and taking the roll as one of the leading scorers.
“I think he has great veteran teammates to play with,” Brey said. “And Prentiss Hubb has been a great mentor to him. For the most part he’s really let the game come to him. I think he fits well with our personnel. He is a special talent getting to the basket and good length. He gives us an unbelievable lift. And I think he’s got really good older teammates that are like older brothers to him and helped him.”
Notre Dame is 4-2 in ACC play and 11-6 on the year.
The Fighting Irish travel to take on the Louisville Cardinals this Saturday before they finally return back to Purcell pavilion next Wednesday to take on NC State.
