LA PORTE, Ind. -- La Porte County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Sunday night where a reportedly nude woman wrecked a stolen BMW and then took a shower at a nearby home. 

Authorities say the call came in around 6:04 p.m. and deputies were dispatched to the 200 west block of Greenlawn Drive for reports of a car crashing into a basketball hoop and then a tree.

The owner of a home near the crash site reported the driver as being nude, and that they were now inside her residence, and taking a shower.

When a deputy arrived at the scene, he found a silver 2007 BMW crashed head-on into a tree. He was met outside by the homeowner who confirmed the driver of the crashed vehicle did not live at her house, they were just taking a shower.

"[A La Porte County Sheriff's Deputy] entered the home and made his way towards the bathroom," authorities said. "He discovered the door was locked and began giving commands to the female. She exited, was wrapped in just a towel, and identified as 37-year-old Michelle N. Reeves of La Porte."

A brief investigation determined Reeves had stolen the vehicle from a nearby residence when she saw it idling in a driveway. Authorities say Reeves did not get far before crashing the car.

She was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for medical clearance.

At approximately 9:18 p.m. Reeves was transported to the La Porte County Jail for the following offenses:

• Theft, L6 Felony
• Unauthorized Entry of a Vehicle Used in a Crime, L6 Felony
• Criminal Mischief, A-Misdemeanor
• Public Nudity, C-Misdemeanor

As of Monday afternoon, Reeves remains housed in the LCJ and is being held on a $755 cash-only bond through Circuit Court.
