Junior Irish Soccer Club wraps up Memorial Day Tournament

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Junior Irish Soccer Tournament wrapped up this afternoon in South Bend, as the tradition which began all the way back in 1977 continued strong for another year.

The tournament featured over 245 teams from four different states, with several different age groups participating, ranging all the way from six to nineteen years old.

ABC57 caught up with the Junior Irish Soccer Club's Executive Director Nick Swaim, who says it's exciting for them to play new teams.

"We get to play a lot of new teams that we do. That we don't normally get to play, coming from different states. We never get to play. A lot of kids having a good time. Lot of family smiling. You know, you're going to have your knuckleheads. Everyone smile and get a little while. But in the hole, on the whole it's been a really good weekend so far, lots of lots of people happy and the weather cooperated, which is always something that's good," stated Swaim.

The tournament, providing a fun challenge all while honoring our veterans.
