SOUTH BEND, Ind. – After a NCAA Championship win, Muffet McGraw will be honored at Four Winds Field by throwing the first pitch at the South Bend Cub’s home-opener.
The Cubs were welcomed home from spring training on Monday, and have a schedule of events leading up to Saturday’s game.
Andrew T. Berlin, the Owner of the South Bend Cubs said, “This team [Notre Dame Women’s Basketball Team] and this coach are riveting. All season long they’ve shown what it means to never give up. And they certainly showed us that same perseverance—that same spirit and skill in the national championship game on Sunday night. So, we want to honor them this Saturday evening with the most important symbol in baseball—the first pitch of the entire season.”
A fireworks show will be held at the end of the game to honor the coach and the team’s victory as well.
“Having Muffet McGraw, one of the greatest college coaches in history throw out our first pitch is an honor.” Joe Hart, President of the South Bend Cubs, stated.
