NOW: Movie night and fireworks at Four Winds Field

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. –Even though the minor league baseball season is canceled, the South Bend Cubs are welcoming families to Four Winds Field on July 10 for a movie night.

“We’re going to have people sitting in the stands, and we’re going to open up the fields. So, families will be able to bring their blankets out," President of the South Bend Cubs, Joe Hart said. "So, they’ll be able to sit out on the outfield grass as well. Which, makes it feel even larger and gives us the ability to social distancing further."

The Cubs will be playing the baseball-themed movie it’s “A League of Their Own” on the big screen. Hart said the movie has ties to South bend, and it seemed fitting for their first event. Afterward, people will be treated to a firework show and kids under 12 will be able to run the bases on the field. Concession stands will also be open, but with a limited menu. Food favorites like hotdogs, hamburgers and French fries, and fan favorites from the steakadelphia stand will also be available.

“We’ll have one on the third-base side open and one on the first base side open. We’ll also have two portable carts as well. Because again we want to be able to socially distance. Each concession stands will have scansions out and then we’ll have mark offs six-foot intervals for people to stand,” Hart said.

The gates open at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or online here
